We are the Mystic Cats, one of Iowa's few active ska bands. Playing a mix of totally original songs and ska covers of ska classics and rock/pop tunes, we will bring you a new sound that you will never forget, while still leaving you swooning in the nostalgia of the classic 90's ska scene. For our complete bio, feel free to check out our blog post covering our formation and history.

Devin Anderson

Meet our new Singer/Guitarist: Devin!

Devin is a 22 year old aficionado of Taco Bell, Hawaiian shirts, and Miller High Life. The new fearless frontman of the Cats was originally a fan of the band and was approached to take over as the singer and guitarist. He currently is a manager at the Nike store in Williamsburg, IA and has a fire shoe collection. He taught himself to play the guitar at 16 and is heavily influenced by Reel Big Fish, Be Like Max, and Streetlight Manifesto.

Levi Boston-Kemple

Meet our new Drummer, Levi!

Levi is currently a fifth-year music major at the University of Iowa. He is completing a degree in Music Performance alongside a minor in Theatre. When he is not focusing his attention on the importance of education, he enjoys ska, reading new books, arranging music, and again more ska. Levi is also married to MY WIFE and is therefore taken (sorry, ladies). Levi is one of two original members of the band, having played trumpet for four years before becoming the drummer.

Daniel Reinart

Meet our returning Trombonist Danny!!

Danny is a physicist at the University of Iowa and when he not playing with plasma and showing lecture demonstrations he plays trombone in his free time. From a toot to a bop he can actually play a mean bone in a ska-ish fashion to make you say an Owen Wilson “Wow.” Another good entertaining aspect about Daniel is he’s big into aquatics and sometimes you’ll catch him making a bloop bloop 10,000 leagues under the sea. Just ask him about playing his bone down there. He’ll tell you all about it for a unnecessary amount of time. Danny is one of two original members of the band.

Meet our new Tenor Sax/occasional Guitarist Will!

When not tootin' on his sax or strummin' on his guitar in the Mystic Cats, Will can be found driving your local Cambus routes right here in Iowa City! Who knows he might have even trained one of the drivers. Will also DJs in the little free time he has left during the day much to the dismay of his roommates. You can even find a couple videos of him spinnin' some tunes on his instagram.

Ben Rodriguez

Sean Miller

Meet our new Alto player: Sean Miller!

Sean Miller is currently a Master’s student studying Saxophone Performance under Dr. Kenneth Tse. This past January, he received the Grand Prize in the Vandoren Emerging Artist's competition in the classical saxophone category.
